Jesus when being tempted said, “It is written” He quoted the Word to defend His position. We are not to read into the Word of God more than is there. It is the Word of God it is settled hopefully we believe it. We need to be careful of assumption and accommodating theology which has crept in and is creeping into the Church today.
James 1:22 Do not merely listen to the Word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says. 23 Anyone who listens to the word but does not do what it says is like a man who looks at his face in a mirror 24 and, after looking at himself, goes away and immediately forgets what he looks like. 25 But the man who looks intently into the perfect law that gives freedom, and continues to do this, not forgetting what he has heard, but doing it–he will be blessed in what he does. (NIV)
We have a legal position (Spiritual Law) which is stated in the Word of God and the battle we face is, “do we believe the Word of God is really the Word of God?” Or do we look at the circumstances or our state and allow them to dictate to us what our life should be, believing them to be above or greater then the Word of God? Is our state or our natural condition the total truth or can it only be a truth in our life?
For example, a person is sick (a truth) but the Bible states, “we have been healed by His stripes and it’s finished” this is THE TRUTH. (Isaiah 53:5)
It is of paramount importance to believe in what the scriptures are saying if we are to have a victorious life walking in what God has in store for us while we are a New Creation on this earth.
The Spiritual Law is greater than the Natural Law in God’s Kingdom although we still need to walk in the literal state for some time.
John 8:31 Then Jesus said to the Jews who believed on Him, If you continue in My Word, you are My disciples indeed.32 And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free. (MKJV)
