It occurred to me that any attempt to fulfil prophecy is fraught with danger/error – it just does not work that way! I do not think we can read prophecy and decide to help God and make it happen. The only prophecies we can fulfil are those concerning us personally, with the “if” in them! That is, “if you do this then . . ., or if you do that then . . .” and the choice is ours. Otherwise, what God has said will happen, without any help from us!
The only exception I can think of is 2 Peter 3:11-13 (New International Version 1984, ©1984)” “11Since everything will be destroyed in this way, what kind of people ought you to be? You ought to live holy and godly lives 12as you look forward to the day of God and speed its coming. That day will bring about the destruction of the heavens by fire, and the elements will melt in the heat. 13But in keeping with his promise we are looking forward to a new heaven and a new earth, the home of righteousness.”
The KJV used the words, “hastening the coming of the day of God”. Given that one of the signs of the end of the age is the preaching of the gospel in all the world, as in Matthew 24:14 (New International Version 1984, ©1984). “14And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come”, then that is a clear appeal to missionary activity. I guess we can be very much a part of helping to fulfil that prophecy.
